Industrial training

The Piezo Institute’s training courses for industry give the European workforce the skills and knowledge to exploit the benefits of piezoelectric technologies.

Courses are customised around the needs of individuals, teams and businesses. They develop a questioning and planning culture, and are designed to give companies a measurable return on their investment in staff training.

Piezo Institute training is delivered by Europe’s leading academic and industrial professionals in piezoelectric materials and devices.

Preparation, delivery and assessment of training courses are validated against the UK National Physical Laboratory’s training audit requirements of the National Skills Academy for Manufacturing.

Benefits of Piezo Institute industrial training

  • Courses stimulate individuals and teams to apply new knowledge and skills in the workplace
  • Companies enjoy a return on their investment in skills and training through increased productivity, better decision-making and the application of research and technology in piezoelectric materials and devices.

Course details

The Piezo Institute provides training at sites all over Europe, according to the needs of companies and individuals. The first training course will be delivered in the UK during Summer 2009.

Certification

In order to complete training modules and become certified by Piezo Institute training, delegates must demonstrate competence across all modules. They need to achieve the required skills standards before passing the training level and being awarded a Piezo Institute Training certificate.

Piezo Institute Training contributes to Continued Professional Development (CPD).

Course outlines

Course 1: Introduction to piezo materials and devices
Duration: Two days
Location: London, UK
Dates: Summer 2009

This introductory course gives delegates a working knowledge of piezo materials and devices, and an appreciation of the fundamental science behind their properties.

It discusses processing methods and some of the environmental issues surrounding piezo materials.

Delegates develop a basic understanding of how piezo properties are measured and will take back to their workplace a set of real industrial applications for piezo materials and devices.

Modules

  • History of piezo technology
  • The physics and chemistry of piezo technologies
  • Introduction to piezo materials
  • Piezo test and metrology
  • Overview of applications for piezo materials and devices
  • Environmental issues and lead-free materials

Who will benefit?

The introductory course is designed for anyone who regularly uses piezoelectric materials in their business, thinks they might benefit from their adoption in their products, or wants to appreciate their potential for future product development.

The Introductory course runs over two days and costs €420 per person per day. Discounts are available for members of the Piezo Institute and can be negotiated for groups larger than four delegates from a single company.
