Piezo
Institute research into piezoelectric materials is applied to
the design of new and improved devices such as sensors,
transducers, memory devices, actuators and motors.
These devices have applications from
medical diagnostics and therapy to industrial measurements and
transportation.
Research by the Piezo Institute is
currently focused on miniaturisation and integration of
piezoelectric materials into MEMS devices, often based on Si
technology.
Institute members are also researching
multifunctional devices such as multiple sensors or intelligent
structures, in which the piezoelectric properties are combined
with other properties to obtain new or improved devices.
